Science is my north pole, and classical music is my south pole. One expresses my critical thinking and perseverance, while the other expresses my creativity and freedom. Science gives me a new perspective on life, and music frees me from the world's stresses. I firmly believe that USC will be able to provide me with the tools I need to expand my studies in science and classical composition and performance.
Pursuing a pre-med plan, I know I will excel in my science classes while at the same time engaging with music to reach my goal. I want to excel in medicine and any pathway leading to medicine. After shadowing at UCI Medical Center in the Catheterization Lab and Cardiovascular Care Unit and pursuing a research paper on mental health and its toll on the heart, I understood my passion. I want to merge the scientific knowledge I gain at USC and the musical knowledge to find a cure for mental health illnesses through music. To do this, I need a strong foundation, which USC will provide.
I’m also eager to explore the world of opportunities through USC’s extracurriculars. At USC, I see myself joining several clubs—USC’s American Medical Student Association, USC Ski and Snowboard, the Trojan Debate Squad, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
